Ingredients
1 ½ cups Dole IQF Blueberries (do not thaw)
¼ cup honey or agave syrup
½ cup fresh basil leaves (packed)
½ cup lime juice, freshly squeezed (about 4-5 limes)
3 cups cold water
Ice cubes, as needed
Lime slices and extra basil leaves for garnish
Directions
- In a small saucepan, combine the Dole IQF Blueberries and honey (or agave syrup) over medium heat.
- Stir occasionally and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the blueberries start to break down and release their juice.
- While the blueberries are cooking, add the fresh basil leaves to a large pitcher. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently muddle the basil, releasing its aromatic oils.
- Once the blueberries have cooked down into a syrup, remove the pan from the heat.
- Let it cool slightly, then strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve to remove the blueberry skins and seeds. Add the resulting blueberry syrup to the pitcher with the muddled basil.
- Pour the freshly squeezed lime juice into the pitcher. Add the cold water and stir to combine.
- Taste and adjust the sweetness if needed by adding more honey or agave syrup.
- Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the blueberry basil limeade over the ice. Garnish with lime slices and a few extra basil leaves for a fresh touch.
